The unit supplies assigned officials to hundreds of boys & girls high school soccer games in their fall season. New officials are always needed. Candidates will be trained prior to the season and you will be well prepared to work games. The annual dues of the referee unit are $55.00, there is also a $15.00 fee to be paid to the Assignors, for a total amount of $ 70.00. Each official must attend 5 meetings in late summer and early fall, prior to the start of each season. These meetings conduct unit business and review new rules. There is a written refresher test given at one of these meetings. There is also a physical fitness test that is completed near the end of August.
Games are played throughout sites in Chautauqua & Cattaraugus County schools. You do get an opportunity to advise us of what area you can be reasonably asked to do games. We also ask your availability for assignments for the months of September and October so that you only get assigned when you are available.
The majority of games are played Monday through Saturday and start at 4:30 p.m. Occasionally there are games which start at 7:00 p.m. Saturday games are played usually at 10:00 a.m. You will start out as a Junior Varsity official and will be assigned to Modified and Junior Varsity games. The pay scale is as follows:
You will need to be finger printed by NYS Department of Education, and cleared under S.A.V.E. Even if you are fingerprinted for people a Civil officer or other professional position. please follow the instructions by clicking here.
You will need to buy your own uniforms and supplies. There will be opportunities to purchase these items at a good price.
